Bob Bubka, On the road again.........

It's been a busy travel time from the wild west of Arizona to the East Coast to cover the Florida swing. The Accenture Match Play Championship was played in perfect conditions - Chamber of Commerce weather is what we call it - just couldn't be more perfect. Westwood vs McIlroy in the semi-final match was a classic and a big mental milestone for young Rory followed by the the final match with two young guns in Hunter Mahan and Rory McElroy - first class golf all around.

At Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, we got to witness first hand the apparent talent of Rory McIlroy, only 22 years old. With his victory Rory vaulted to number one in the world rankings replacing Luke Donald. It was a thrill to watch but it was a bigger thrill for me to talk with Rory's Mom and Dad who were there to watch. His father, Gerry, worked three jobs to provide the money for Rory to play junior golf but he was quick to say that there was nothing that he would not do for his son.

These are exciting times for golf. Mickelson's victory at Pebble Beach, Tiger getting closer and closer to getting back on track and of course Rory establishing himself as the man to beat at the Masters. Having Tiger back in the picture has certainly put the buzz back in the game, but having all this new young talent blossoming is just as exciting.

It's also good to see Paul Casey back out playing. He's been out with a dislocated shoulder that he got while snowboarding. He showed me the X-Ray that he had on his cell phone and it looked horrible. Paul says he's a bit rusty but has his sights set on the Masters in 4 week's time. What a Masters this could be...It could even be one for the record books but to beat out '86 Masters when Jack Nicklaus won his last green jacket it would have to be something really special.

I'll be back next week after we crown a champion in this World Golf Championships - Cadillac Championship here at Doral where 75 of the highest ranked players in the world are competing, not only for the money, the trophy, the FedEx Cup points but also for the very precious world ranking points....yep, a lot to play for...
